It’s natural to be curious about your followers and connections on the platform. Whether it’s for personal reasons or to manage your online circle. With no way to see who viewed your Facebook profile, knowing who isn’t following you back can be valuable.

Have you ever wondered, “Who unfollowed me on Facebook?” If so, this guide is all you need! Read this to determine if someone isn’t following you on Facebook.

So, let’s dive in to uncover how can you see if someone is not following you on Facebook to gain insights into your follower list—

Quick Answer:
How to tell if someone unfollowed you on Facebook? Simply visit their profile. If you’re friends, check if the Friends or Following button is selected. If not friends, search if they’re in your Followers list on your profile.

Understanding Facebook’s Friend and Follower System!

On Facebook, “Friends” are like mutual connections. You can see each other’s posts when you agree to connect. It’s a two-way street for chatting and sharing. When someone becomes your friend, they also become your follower.

Conversely, “Followers” are more like fans; they can see what you share publicly without officially becoming your friend. It’s a one-way connection, like having an audience. You can even let people who aren’t your friends follow you by choosing ‘Public’ in the ‘Who Can Follow Me’ privacy setting.

Your Facebook friends typically get to see more—like your posts and photos—while your followers might only see your public posts and basic information. This setup lets you control who sees what, whether it’s just for friends or for everyone to see.

In short, it is all about keeping your social media how you want it!

Knowing about this system helps you notice changes in your connections, and figuring out ‘how to tell if someone unfollowed you on Facebook’ is like the next step in keeping track of who’s in your social circle.

How to Tell If Someone Unfollowed You on Facebook?

If you’re wondering how you can see if someone is not following you on Facebook, know that there are two primary methods: manual and automatic. So, to detect if someone has unfollowed you on Facebook, you can either use the manual method or the automatic method.

The manual method entails comparing your current friends or followers list to previous counts and identifying any differences or discrepancies that may indicate someone has unfollowed you.

On the other hand, the automatic method involves using third-party apps or browser extensions specifically designed to track changes in your follower list. These tools provide notifications when someone unfollows you without revealing the specific identities of those who unfollowed you.

Essentially, Facebook lacks a direct feature to identify who unfollowed you. Hence, third-party tools or manual tracking are commonly used for this purpose.

So, from searching to using third-party tools, let’s now discover step-by-step procedures for how to know if someone unfollowed you on Facebook—

How to See Who Unfollowed You on Facebook Manually?

To manually check who unfollowed you on the Facebook website, follow these steps—

  • Step 1: Go to the Facebook website to access your Facebook account using your login credentials.
  • Step 2: Then, click on your Profile Picture or your Name to go to your profile page.
Click on your Facebook profile picture or name
  • Step 3: On your profile, look for the Friends or Followers tab. You need to click on the Friends tab (if you’re using a personal profile) or the Followers tab (if you’re using a public or business page) to see the list of your friends or people following you.
Tap on Friends tab to view the list of your friends

Note: On personal profiles, this might only display if you’ve enabled followers or set your posts to public.

  • Step 4: Now, simply scroll through the list of friends or followers and note any discrepancies from your previous count. You need to look for previously connected individuals who are now missing.
Scroll through the list of friends or followers to look for friends or followers now missing

To manually check who unfollowed you on the Facebook app, follow these steps on how to see who unfollowed you on Facebook mobile—

  • Step 1: Open the Facebook app.
  • Step 2: Navigate to the menu.
Open the Facebook app and go on the Menu tab
  • Step 3: Then, look for the Friends tab and tap on it.
    Tap the Friends tabs
  • Step 4: After that, tap Your Friends at the top of the page.
Tap Your Friends at the top of the page
  • Step 5: Now, use the Search Bar to search for a specific person and see if the person is listed among your friends and you’re still connected or not.
Use the Search Bar to look for a friend and check if they have unfriended you

If the person isn’t listed among your friends, they’ve probably unfriended you. To confirm this, visit their profile. There, if you see the Add Friend or Follow button instead of your previous connection status, it confirms that they’ve indeed unfriended or unfollowed you.”

Note: Facebook doesn’t provide a direct feature to see a list of people who’ve unfollowed you, so the manual method involves comparing your current connections list to your previous ones. Or, use the search bar to find a specific person and see if they’re still following you by visiting their profile.

How to See Who Unfollowed You on Facebook Automatically?

To automatically check who unfollowed you on Facebook, several third-party tools and browser extensions provide this functionality. These apps or tools connect to your Facebook, watch for changes in your followers, and notify you if someone unfollows you. So, to use these tools—

  • Step 1: You need to first find trustworthy browser extensions or third-party apps designed for tracking unfollowers on Facebook, like;
  • Unfriend Finder: It’s an easy-to-use extension compatible with major browsers like Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Opera. It helps track who unfriends you on Facebook and provides notifications along with a dashboard for insights.
Install Unfriend Finder by Clicking Add to Chrome
  • Who Deleted Me: It checks your Facebook friends list for changes and showcases who unfriended you. It also offers updates on new friend requests and deactivated accounts. To use it, you’ll need to allow access to your Facebook and once granted, it sends you daily emails about any changes.
Install Who Deleted Me by Clicking Add to Chrome
  • Step 2: Then, simply install the selected tool and connect it to your Facebook account as per the tool’s instructions.
  • Step 3: Now, these tools regularly monitor your followers list for any changes and notify you when someone unfollows you.

Disclaimer: Be careful when giving access to thirdparty tools and make sure they come from trusted sources to safeguard your account’s privacy and security.

Note: These apps can help you monitor changes to your friends list and keep track of who has unfollowed you on Facebook. However, these apps may not always work as intended and may contain ads similar to the numerous ads on Facebook.

What are the Additional Tools and Features to Track Your Followers and Unfollowers?

Facebook offers various useful tools on the platform for keeping tabs on your followers and unfollowers. These include the following—

  • Followers Tab: It allows you to see a list of users who follow your profile/page.
  • Insights Section: It provides detailed analytics on your follower demographics, page engagement, and post reach.
  • Friend Requests: You can check for pending requests in the top right corner to accept or decline them as needed.
  • Notifications: You receive notifications for new followers requesting to connect. Through notifications, Facebook alerts you about new followers or unfollows.
  • Snooze and Mute: You can hide posts (Snooze) temporarily or silence them (Mute) permanently without unfollowing or blocking them.
  • FAQ: You can find more information on following, unfollowing, and blocking on Facebook’s FAQ page.
  • Activity Log: It tracks your actions related to follows and unfollows on your profile.
  • Privacy Settings: It helps you control who can follow you and see your posts, allowing you to manage interactions with your followers.

So, these built-in features within Facebook assist in monitoring and managing follower-related activity on the platform.

How to Manage and Deal with Unfollowers on Facebook?

When dealing with unfollowers on Facebook, it’s essential to first understand that changes in people’s interests and connections are natural.

Then, avoid taking unfollowing personally, as it doesn’t necessarily reflect your worth. Instead, focus on positive engagement with your remaining audience.

Additionally, you can consider reviewing your content periodically to better resonate with your followers and to encourage active participation as well as interaction. This will help you in increasing your Facebook page engagement.

Lastly, take the opportunity to connect with new individuals who appreciate your content. This helps foster a dynamic and engaged online community.

What’s the Difference Between Being Unfriended and Unfollowed on Facebook?

Being unfriended means you’re no longer connected as friends on social media. You can’t see each other’s stuff anymore.

Unfollowing on the other hand, is like taking a break from seeing someone’s posts in your feed. You’re still connected as friends, but their updates won’t show up unless you follow them again.

To put it simply—Unfriending is like saying, “We’re not friends anymore,” while unfollowing is more like, “I’ll skip seeing your posts for now.”

So, unfriending is a stronger move, while unfollowing is more about taking a break from someone’s posts.

How You Can Unfriend Someone on Facebook?

To unfriend someone on Facebook, follow these steps—

  • Step 1: Enter the person’s name in the search bar located at the top of Facebook to access their profile.
  • Step 2: Then, navigate to the Friends button situated on the top of their profile.
  • Step 3: After that, click on the drop-down menu that appears upon hovering over the Friends button.
  • Step 4: Now, choose the option Unfriend from the menu.

How You Can Unfollow Someone on Facebook?

To unfollow someone on Facebook, these are the steps you need to follow—

  • Step 1: Type their Name into the search bar and go to their Facebook profile page.
  • Step 2: Click the Following button at the top of their profile.
  • Step 3: In doing so, a drop-down menu will appear, and from it, select the Unfollow option.

This action will stop their updates (posts) from appearing on your feed, but you’ll still be friends and can interact on the platform.

Note: When you unfriend or unfollow someone on social media, they typically do not receive any notification about the action.

Bonus: Why Unfollowing on Facebook is Beneficial for You?

Unfollowing on Facebook has several benefits for a better social experience—

  • Firstly, it lets you control your feed, showing only what interests you.
  • Next, unfollowing allows you to prioritize connections that align with your current preferences. This, in turn, fosters more meaningful interactions and engagements within your network.
  • Furthermore, unfollowing also aids mental health by limiting exposure to unwanted content, creating a positive space, and reducing information overload.
  • Last but not least, unfollowing doesn’t end relationships; it simply changes what appears on your feed.

So, it’s a healthy practice to prioritize your well-being by curating a positive digital environment for a better Facebook experience.

Ever tried adding someone on Facebook, and it didn’t work?

There are loads of reasons why that happens!

So, let’s dive into why these hiccups happen when you’re trying to add friends on Facebook—giving you the lowdown on what’s causing the trouble, including instances when Facebook itself experiences downtime and how you might get around it for smoothly adding friends on the platform!

13 Reasons Why I Can’t Add Someone on Facebook!

If you’re having trouble adding friends on Facebook and wondering ‘why can’t I add someone on Facebook’, know that there could be several reasons why you’re unable to do so, and we’re here to unveil them for you—

Privacy Settings [They Changed Their Privacy Settings to Friends of Friends Only]

You may know that Facebook offers customizable privacy settings, including that you can control who can connect and see your activity. Basically, Privacy settings on Facebook allow users to limit friend requests to friends of friends and not everyone by default.

Privacy settings set to friends of friends only

So, if you don’t share mutual friends with someone and are attempting to send a friend request, you might be unable to do so because the person might have strict privacy settings that prevent others from sending friend requests. They could have limited friend requests to friends of friends or specific settings to control who can add them.

However, if you want to add them, expand your connections for potential mutual friends. But, if waiting isn’t an option, you can ask them to tweak their settings briefly or send you a request directly if you know them offline.

Previous Requests [They Haven’t Accepted Your Friend Request]

If you’ve sent them multiple friend requests in the past that went unanswered or were declined, Facebook might restrict your ability to send more requests to that person for a certain period.

In that scenario, you can cancel the request when you find their profile and resend your request. This way, they receive a reminder about it once more.

Blocked [You Have Blocked Them or You Are Blocked]

Next, the reason for ‘why can’t I add someone on FB’ is simply that the other person might have blocked you, or you might have accidentally blocked them and forgotten.

To be sure, from your end, it’s better to check your block list if (you’re unable to locate their profile on Facebook).

Check Block List on Facebook

If that person is on your block list, you need to first unblock them by navigating through privacy and settings. Once unlocked, you can then send them friend requests.

Restricted [They Have Restricted Friend Request]

Additionally, they might have set restrictions on who can add them as a friend. Given Facebook’s various privacy options, it’s feasible to limit friend requests.

Restricted friend request from unknowns

So, if you see the ‘Restricted’ status on friend requests in Facebook then, it indicates limitations set by the user. It might result from their privacy settings limiting friend requests from unknown or non-mutual connections.

This restriction prevents people from adding individuals who are not in their network or with whom they have not interacted, thereby ensuring control over their friend list and conversations on the platform.

Reached Friend Limit [You or Another Person Has Reached the Friend Limit]

Another reason for ‘why can’t I friend someone on Facebook’ is that the platform has a limit on the number of friends a person can have. Believe it or not, there’s a limit to how many friends you can have i.e., 5000 friends on Facebook.

So, if you’ve hit that limit, you won’t be able to add more people. It’s like having a full house in a game—no more room for new players!

Similarly, if they’ve reached this limit, they won’t be able to accept more friend requests until they remove some friends.

Reached the Friend Limit on Facebook

Technical Glitches [Facebook May Not be Working or Is Down]

Occasionally, technical issues or glitches on Facebook’s platform can cause problems with adding friends. For instance, when the Facebook App isn’t working as it should, you face issues sending friend requests.

Same way, if the platform server is down or is experiencing downtime, then fb can’t add friends. However, this could be temporary and might resolve itself after a while.

Geographical Restrictions [Their Account Has Been Restricted by Facebook]

In some cases, adding someone might not be possible due to regional limitations or legal restrictions. For instance, certain regions might have specific rules impacting friend requests. If you encounter difficulties adding someone on Facebook, considering these restrictions can help you understand why you’re having trouble adding someone.

Account Deactivated or Hacked [Their Account Has Been Deactivated or Hacked]

You might also struggle to add someone on Facebook if their account is deactivated or hacked.

When a Facebook user deactivates their account, their activity remains intact unless they delete the account. However, no one can send friend requests unless they activate their account.

Facebook account deactivated

Of the two, if the latter is the case, they need to recover their hacked Facebook account to accept your request.

Request Deleted [Your Friend Request Was Deleted]

It’s one of the common reasons for being unable to add someone on Facebook. If they’ve deleted your friend request after you sent it, you’ll encounter difficulty adding them.

Friend request deleted no new requests

So, in order to be sure whether they’ve deleted your friend request, visit their profile and check if the request is still pending. If not, just send it again to reconnect.

Blocked by Facebook [You’ve Been Blocked from Sending a Friend Request]

Moreover, you can’t send friend requests if Facebook has blocked you from doing so. This ban might be because you’ve sent many requests lately, your past requests have gone unanswered, or some of your requests were seen as unwelcome.

Blocked from Sending Friend Requests

However, worry not; it’s a temporary restriction, and you might regain the ability to send requests soon.

Request Marked as Spam [They’ve Marked Your Request as Spam]

If someone you want to add friend on Facebook has reported your profile as spam, you might not be able to send them a friend request again. The reason for reporting could be any for instance, they might’ve reported you for not following Facebook rules.

So, if this is the case, you won’t be able to add them on Facebook. However, note that understanding and following the rules can help prevent these situations in the future.

Friends Before [You’re Already Friends on Facebook]

You could’ve forgotten to be friends with them on Facebook. Yes, sometimes it’s easy to forget being friends with someone on Facebook. However, you can refresh your memory about your friendship status simply by navigating to their profile and looking for the ‘add friend’ option there. If it’s available, you might not be friends yet, but if it’s missing, you’re probably already connected.

Fake or Duplicate Accounts [You’re Suspected of Using a Fake or Duplicate Account for Requests]

Last but not least, if the person suspects your account to be fake or a duplicate, they might not accept your friend request. Likewise, if Facebook flags their account as suspicious, they might not be able to receive friend requests.

Now that you understand the reasons behind ‘why can’t I add someone on Facebook’, let’s explore some tips for sending friend requests and adding friends skilfully on Facebook—

Tips for Successfully Adding Someone on Facebook

To increase the chances of successfully adding someone on Facebook, here are some steps you can take—

  • Check Privacy Settings: It might be helpful to check your own settings to ensure you haven’t accidentally restricted friend requests or have any account issues. Also, adjust privacy settings to allow friend requests from everyone or from friends of friends.
  • Send a Personalized Request: If you’ve previously sent requests that were ignored, consider sending a personalized message with a request, explaining who you are, your relationship (if known), and why you want to connect.
  • Reach Out to Mutual Connections: You can utilize your mutual connections by asking them to introduce you or put in a good word for you when you send the friend request.
  • Increase Interaction on Common Groups or Pages: You can also engage with the person through comments or posts on mutual groups or pages to increase familiarity and make them more likely to accept your friend request.
  • Avoid Sending Multiple Requests: If your request was declined previously, sending again may be perceived as spam. So, either wait for some time or try to establish a connection through other means.
  • Verify Increase Your Account Credibility: You can boost your profile credibility by verifying it via phone or email, adding information, and real photos for increasing the chance of your friend request being accepted.
  • Contact Via Other Means: Additionally, reaching out to the person via alternative means could help you.
  • Respect Their Decision: Lastly, respect their decision if they decline your request; they may have personal reasons for not accepting or limiting their friend list. Pushing too hard might create discomfort and worsen the situation.

Bottom Line

That’s all! Now you know that a few things could be the reason why you can’t add someone on Facebook, such as the person’s privacy settings, the limit on how many friends you can have, restrictions from Facebook, you have been blocked by them, etc.

So, understanding these things helps figure out why adding someone on Facebook isn’t always a smooth process.

However, being mindful of privacy settings, mutual connections, and respectful engagement can enhance the chances of a successful friend request on Facebook, making the process smoother and more likely to yield positive results.

FAQs

Ans: You can’t add someone on Facebook because of either of the following reasons—

  • One of you has maxed out the friend limit.

Why Should You Delete Facebook Messenger?

If you have second thoughts about whether you should delete Facebook Messenger or not, then below are a few reasons that will definitely help you decide why you should delete Facebook Messenger—

  1. First is that Facebook Messenger is not private. Since Facebook has experienced massive data leaks and breaches in the past to tech companies, including Amazon, Microsoft, and Sony— your data is clearly not as secure as it is with its other applications.
  2. Messenger ranks poorly on the list of secure messaging apps because it tracks your behavior, lacks default encryption options, and doesn’t encrypt your past conversations.
  3. In addition, Facebook Messenger has access to your camera, microphone and contacts.
  4. Last but not least, Messenger’s source code is open to independent review, and its security design is not properly documented.

So, these are the reasons why you might consider ditching Facebook Messenger and look for another similar app as there are so many more privacy-focused instant messaging apps available to the users.

Note: Once the deletion process begins, you will not be able to reactivate your account or retrieve any content you have added to Facebook. However, of course before deleting your account, you can download your photos and posts if you wish.

  • Step 8: In the end, just tap ‘Continue’ to account deactivation via following the instructions exactly as appeared on the on-screen.

However, note that these steps not only delete your Messenger account, it will delete your Facebook account too along with removing all your Facebook and Messenger content also.

Note: Deactivating your Facebook account is not the same as deleting your Facebook account. This is because when you deactivate your Facebook account, you can reactivate it at a later date, but if you delete your Facebook account, your Facebook profile data is gone forever and your Facebook Messenger account also.

Can I Delete Messenger Without Deleting Facebook?

Generally speaking, it’s a no-no! If your Messenger is linked to your Facebook account, it is not possible to delete your Messenger account unless you delete Facebook.

However, if you are using the stand-alone version of the Messenger app that is not linked to your Facebook account, you can easily delete your Messenger account.

Tip: If you consider using another social media platform then, it’s worth checking out social media privacy tips for the same to see how you can protect your social life online and can also learn about privacy issues.

Basically, using WhatsApp, users can share text, photos, and voice and video messages with their WhatsApp contacts.

It has all the features, characteristics and robust team collaboration tools because it was designed keeping professional users in mind.

Besides that, what is more interesting to know about this platform is its chat feature that gives you the ability to edit your messages even after they’ve been sent.

Overall, it stands out in comparison to Facebook and other Messenger alternatives – with its ease of use, task manager tools, and video chat.

So, if you find this surprising, let us tell you that in order to use Brief, you don’t need to register with your email address or remember a password. Rather, just enter your phone number, a one-time verification code sent to you via SMS along with your name, and you’re done!

Telegram

Telegram is a highly popular messaging platform that needs no introduction as of today. It has disappearing messages, an easy-to-use interface, and encryption. With over 400 million monthly active users, Telegram is considered to be a solid app for the data and privacy concerned user.

Using Telegram, you can share videos, pictures or files with anyone, or participate in group chats with up to 100,000 participants. Not only that, you can also broadcast your message to an unlimited number of people.

In addition, the app allows you to pin messages to the top of the screen for quick reference. What’s more to mention is that users can create secret chats and set messages, photos and videos to self-destruct after a specific period of time.

However, do note that the app has some flaws, yet it is better than Messenger. Lastly, it is not open-source, so its code is not available for public audit.

Wickr

This Facebook Messenger alternative is next on the list of secure messaging apps because it deletes your data automatically, so you can be sure it’s not left intact.

To be precise, Wickr is a single end-to-end encrypted service that provides a full suite of collaboration capabilities on any device.

In addition, you don’t need your phone number or email address to register on the Wickr instant messaging app that allows users to have group chats with up to 30 people and send and receive end-to-end encrypted messages including photos, videos, audios, and file attachments.

All in all, privacy wise, this is definitely the better solution, although it is not as user-friendly as many other apps.

Viber

Viber messaging app is another great alternative to Facebook Messenger as it offers end-to-end encryption by default. It is undoubtedly one of the most secure and privacy-focused messaging apps also because its features are comparable to WhatsApp.

This app enables users to make free phone and video calls across the globe. Not just that, users can also text, create group chats, share short video files and documents. Moreover, the ‘Viber Out’ feature lets you call non-Viber numbers and landline phones worldwide.

And, like Telegram, its ‘Secret Chats’ gives users extra privacy with self-destruction timers on all messages.

Considering all this, if you decide to have an account on Viber, remember that setup only requires a phone number. This means, no emails or passwords to remember.

However, the downside of using Viber is that its interface is not the most professional, and it also runs ads on its platform which can be distracting or annoying especially if you’re planning to use Viber as a messaging app for your business.

Skype

You are well aware that Microsoft-owned Skype is known for its video calling service, but you might not know that it does much more than that! For instance, it boasts to offer features such as instant messaging, file transfer, debit-based calls to landlines and mobile telephones, and much more.

To cut a long story short, Skype is an all-in-one audio, video, and text communication app available across multiple platforms. Therefore, it can be a great option to consider in place of Facebook Messenger.

Using this platform, users can send texts, photos and short video messages to other Skype users, no matter whether they are online or offline. In addition, users can purchase Skype Credit to make international calls to cell phones and landlines.

So, if you consider it, note that Skype doesn’t require a phone number to set up an account because it is already linked to your Microsoft account.

However, despite the fact that Skype has been the standard for video chats, logging into another platform to make video calls can be cumbersome.

Signal

Last but not least, Signal proves to be an effective alternative to Facebook Messenger as it offers SMS, video calls, group calls, file-sharing, team chats, and disappearing messages options.

Furthermore, Signal uses strong encryption protocols and does not store your data. This makes the platform transparent and increases the trust of the users in the app.

Above all, it is to mention that Signal is open-sourced, so the community constantly reviews its code.

So, these are some of the best alternatives to Facebook Messenger that you can use without thinking if security is your top concern. Undoubtedly, Facebook Messenger has emerged as one of the most popular platforms to-date, but at the same time, it also faces a number of issues like any other robust app.

So, if you’re among the millions of people who use the Facebook Messenger app every day, but have been struggling to get Facebook Messenger working on your phone lately, don’t worry!

This piece of content is worth reading to get full help on how to fix the problem with Facebook Messenger on your respective (iPhone or Android) mobile device.

Having said that, let us begin troubleshooting—

12 Quick Fixes for Facebook Messenger Not Working on Android | iOS Devices

Fix 1: Check If Messenger Server Is Down

First of all let us ask you this—

When you open the Facebook Messenger app, are you greeted with a blank, white page?

Have you tried refreshing it?

If so and even refreshing doesn’t help then, it would be great if you check regarding server outages for Messenger before you actually start troubleshooting the ‘Facebook Messenger isn’t working’ issue!

It is often seen that Messenger faces problems due to outages and as there have been many instances of this happening in the past, it is not uncommon for Facebook services to go offline unnecessarily.

Keeping this in mind, you should first check the Facebook Messenger server and here is how you can do that—

  • Step 1: To check ‘Is Facebook Messenger down,’ you need to first open the web browser of your choice.
  • Step 2: Then, using your browser, visit this Platform Status page for Facebook to see the lists of ongoing outages (if there’s any).

Alternatively, you can also visit any of the following third-party services—

They can also help you check the status of Facebook Messenger.

As a result, if it turns out that the problem is on Facebook’s end, and you are not the only one who is facing the server problem right now, then your only option is to wait until Facebook fixes the problem.

No, wait! You can consider using an alternative messaging service for the time being.

However, if the report shows that there is no server outage issue with Facebook Messenger; you can just go ahead to try out the fixes below.

Tip: Another good idea before you starts troubleshooting ‘Facebook Messenger app issues on your smartphone’ would be to check if you can access the Messenger service using a web browser. It clears your mind whether the problem lies with Messenger itself or your phone is the culprit.

Fix 2: Clear Facebook Messenger App Cache

Albeit, the cache allows your apps to store some data temporarily, which makes them run faster and help them use few resources; but you need to clear it regularly otherwise the collection of cache files gets piled up and this can cause the Messenger app to malfunction.

So, if you forgot to do that, then you have to clear your app cache immediately so that it can start afresh and how you can clear it is given below in the form of steps you should follow!

Note: This solution will probably not just solve the problem encountered, but will also improve and enhance the performance of your Messenger app by reducing its data processing and fetching.

On Android—

  • Step 1: To begin, tap on the Settings App icon to open it.
  • Step 2: Then, inside your phone settings, select the Apps or Apps & Notifications option.
  • Step 3: Next, you need to tap on the Three-dotted icon from the upper-right corner of the screen to select the Show System Apps option.
  • Step 4: Following that, tap on See all Apps.

  • Step 6: Next, on the Messenger’s App info interface, you need to tap on the Storage & cache option.
  • Step 7: Now what you need to do is tap on the Clear Cache button to wipe away the stored cache.
Note: After doing so, you will receive a warning message that your Messenger application data will be deleted. However, you don’t have to worry because it won’t delete your photo and video data; rather it just deletes how the Messenger app remembers your media and where to find it in your phone’s gallery.
  • Step 8: Once you’re done, just reboot your Android device right away and restart Messenger to see if it works.

On iPhone—

  • Step 1: Open your iPhone Settings app first and to do so tap on the Settings icon from the app’s drawer.

  • Step 5: In the app list, you need to locate and tap on the Facebook Messenger App.
  • Step 6: Now, you just have to tap on the Offload App option to free up some storage used by the Messenger app’s cache.
  • Step 7: After doing that, make sure to give your iPhone device a quick reboot and then, restart Messenger to check whether you are able to use it without facing any issues or not.

Fix 3: Reset Your Device’s Network Settings

To no one’s surprise, if you have a network error on your respective Android or iOS device, you are likely to experience problems with your apps and software, including Facebook Messenger.

Thus, it is suggested that along with clearing your Facebook Messenger cache you should also try resetting your network settings and below are the instructions of how you can do that!

  • Step 5: After resetting all your network settings, you can once again connect back to your Wi-Fi and other networks.

  • Step 2: Then, tap on System and following that tap on Date & Time.
  • Step 3: Now, inside the Date and time menu, what you’ve to check is that these Set time automatically and Set time zone automatically options are selected. If not, make sure to select them.
Tap on Date & Time and these Set time automatically and Set time zone automatically options.

On iPhone—

  • Step 1: As the steps for iPhone users are a bit simpler so first launch the Settings app.
  • Step 2: Then, choose the General option to open.
  • Step 3: In that, tap on Date & Time.
  • Step 4: Now, you can simply activate the Set automatically option.

Fix 6: Connect With Your Wi-Fi / Cellular Data Again

If you’re able to launch Messenger on your phone but are facing problems in sending and receiving messages then, this might be because of a slow/poor internet connection. Resolving internet connection problems is as simple as turning ‘Off’ (for a few seconds) and turning back ‘On’ your Wi-Fi / cellular data or connecting to a new & high-speed internet connection network.

Fix 7: Update the Facebook Messenger App

However, this should not happen as beyond any shadow of a doubt, updating your device not just strengthens your security, improves your device’s performance, fixes bugs but also introduces new features.

So, without even thinking once you should update your respective phone and for that, go to ‘Settings > System > System Update’ option. Then, connect to a Wi-Fi network to check for an update and to download it for updating your phone to its latest version.

After doing that, restart your phone also to see if this helps to get Messenger working again.

Note: Restarting your phone has been touted as a solution to many problems with smartphones as restarting your phone resets the phone’s memory and thereby helps in fixing problems.

Fix 10: Reset All Your Phone Settings

If you are still facing the same issue with your Messenger application, then you might have changed some of your phone settings and that is why facing the ‘Messenger app is not working’ issue.

If so, resetting app preferences will fix it for you as doing so will reset background data restrictions for apps, restore default apps for actions, re-enable apps and app notifications, and will also reset any permission restrictions.

Now, with that said, here’s how you can do it—

  • Step 1: Head to Settings of your phone.
  • Step 2: Inside settings app, scroll down to the bottom to locate and tap on the System option.
  • Step 3: Next, you’ve to tap on Reset options.
  • Step 4: After that from the reset options, carefully select Reset app preferences.
  • Step 5: Now, simply tap the Reset Apps option available on the screen to confirm.

Fix 11: Turn on Background Data for Messenger App

Next, if the problem is that you are not getting any notification after switching from Messenger to another app; you may have disabled background data for Messenger. If that is the case, then enabling it back should help you resolve the issue.

  • Step 1: In order to enable background data firstly, open your phone Settings app.
  • Step 2: Inside settings, tap on the Apps & Notifications option.
  • Step 3: Then, tap on the Manage apps or See all apps option. In doing so, the list of all apps that you’ve on your phone will appear on the screen.
  • Step 4: From them, you simply have to locate and tap on the Messenger app to open it.
  • Step 5: Now, as the Messenger app info interface will open, from it tap on the Mobile Data & WI-FI option.
  • Step 6: Following that, what you need to do is check whether the option for Background Data is turned on or not. In case if not, make sure to turn Background Data option ‘On.’
Turn on Allow background data usage option
Tip: You can also enable the Unrestricted Data Usage option if you want to keep your Messenger app active when the Data Saver is on.

Fix 12: Boot Your Device in Safe Mode

Last but not least, you should know that even a simple reason like installing an app blocker or third party app can cause issues with the apps already available on your respective mobile phone.

However, we are not saying that you have to uninstall them now, no! Instead, what you can do to avoid such third party apps and ad blocker interference with the smooth operation of your mobile apps, especially Messenger, is to boot your device in safe mode.

  • Step 1: To boot your phone in Safe mode, first long-press the Power button.
  • Step 2: As you do so, the Power options will appear on the screen of your phone.
  • Step 3: From the available power options, you’ve to tap or hold down the Power off / Shutdown button till a pop-up appears.
  • Step 4: Once it happens, tap on Reboot from the Reboot to Safe mode window and now all you’ve to do is wait for your phone to restart in Safe Mode.
Note: You can exit safe mode anytime by restarting your phone.

Additional Suggestions—

For those who are still facing the ‘Messenger not working issue’ issue on their respective iPhone or Android, we have mentioned some additional suggestions as well. Have a look—

Try Facebook Messenger Lite

If still Messenger isn’t working on your phone then, how about trying Facebook Messenger Lite. Compared to its bloated cousin, there are fewer instances of such happening with Facebook Messenger Lite. Also, this less resource-intensive version of Facebook Messenger is easy to install, uses fewer resources and comparatively less buggy.

To be precise, using Facebook Messenger Lite you will be able to enjoy messaging and chatting to all your Facebook contacts including your friends and family with a streamlined appearance and only essential features.

Having said that, if you consider using Facebook Messenger Lite then, use the below given links to download it on your respective mobile—

You can take your mobile phone to the nearest mobile service center and see an expert who can not only help you fix all its erroneous settings but at the same time, it can also fix the software on your phone. And, maybe then, the Messenger app will start working properly on your phone.

Report an Issue with Facebook

Lastly, you can also report an issue with Facebook Messenger so that the Facebook team can help you resolve the same in real time.

  • Step 1: To begin, open your Facebook Messenger App on your respective iPhone or Android mobile phone.
  • Step 2: If it gets opened, you’ll see all your Chats in front of you, right! So, from the top-left corner of this page, you need to simply tap on your Profile Picture.
  • Step 3: As you do so, a side-menu bar will appear on the screen, and you’ve to scroll down this menu till the bottom to select the ‘Report a Problem’ option.
  • Step 4: After that, what you’ve to do is select the ‘Type of Problem’ option that best explains the issue you’re currently encountering with your Facebook Messenger app.
  • Step 5: Along with this, (if applicable) you can also add a Description of the entire troubleshooting procedure that you applied to resolve this issue.
  • Step 6: And, once you’ve done that, just tap on the Send button to submit the report to Facebook.

That is all! Hope this troubleshooting guide helps you in fixing these listed problems related to Messenger not working on your respective phone—

  • Facebook Messenger not showing messages.
  • Facebook Messenger not working after the update.
  • Facebook Messenger keeps crashing when you try to open it.
  • Facebook Messenger couldn’t load conversations.
  • Facebook Messenger showing error in loading media.
  • Facebook Messenger won’t load or freezes on your phone.

As you know anyone of you can create individual ‘Page’ on Facebook to promote your services or your brands.

Using a Facebook page, you can do good marketing to make your brand or business more profitable because Facebook has billions of daily active-users that you can target with minimal efforts.

To be precise, you can create a Facebook Page to showcase your corporate image and to well-manage your professional presence on Facebook which is currently the world’s most used social media platform.

However, only creating a Facebook page is not enough, you also want it to be found well, right!

Therefore, Facebook allows page owners to generate a suitable address for their business/fan page.

So, after creating a Facebook fan page/ Facebook business page, you can choose a short and catchy short URL (Vanity-URL) address, which Facebook calls as “Username.”

A “Facebook @username” appears in the URL of your Facebook page and gives it a nice URL address without a lot of numbers attached on the end of it.

Not just that, it also creates a unique and direct link to your Facebook page so that your Facebook Page can be easily tagged by other Facebook users.

What is a Username?

On any Social Media platform or Forums or Websites, a “Username” is our identity and with our username, others not only find us and send us a direct message but also associate us with our responses and activities.

Generally speaking, the process of adding or even changing a username to a Facebook page is very smooth and straightforward.

However, chances are, when you try to create a username, you may encounter an error message saying:

“Username Isn’t Available, This Facebook Page Isn’t Eligible to Have a Username”

You may receive ‘This Page isn’t eligible to have a username’ error message while changing a username to a Facebook page.

Already, some Facebook users have encountered “This Page is not eligible to have a Username” error that prevents them from being able to properly create a username for their page.

So, like others, if that’s the case with you also then, do you know why your Facebook page is not eligible to create or change a username and how you can get rid of this error?

No!

Then, you’re reading the right post.

Below, we will be addressing this issue by deploying some desirable fixes that will most probably rectify this glitch on Facebook.

To start, let’s discuss the reasons due to which the error might be triggered in the first place.

Reasons: Why Isn’t My Page Eligible to have an FB Username?

Albeit, there can be different reasons for facing “this page isn’t eligible to create a username” error but, according to Facebook and a lot of users’ feedback, you receive this error mainly for the following reasons—

  • Your Facebook page is new and unless it has at least 24-page likes and one post, you cannot create a username for it.
  •  The username you want to add to your Facebook page has already been taken by another user.
  • You are not an Admin on the Facebook page for whom you’re trying to create a username.
  • Your Username is either too short or too long to be added to your Facebook page.
  • The Facebook account that you’re using might not have been properly registered on Facebook platform or its activity might have been limited.
  • Your Facebook Profile and Page that you are using might not be verified and thus, Facebook won’t let you create a username for the same.

Additionally, it is also worth mentioning that Facebook has several rules for setting up a Facebook page username.  This means, there are some conditions that must be met to be able to create a Facebook Page Username.

But, Facebook does not indicate these prerequisites itself and instead throws the above, meaningless error message if they are not met.

So, the solution is to read about them yourself!

In this regard, you can refer to Facebook’s Guidelines for Usernames to help you create a custom username. Additionally, you can learn more about username policies in the Facebook Terms.

Overall, your Facebook page must meet the set requirements to be able to create a username because if the requirements are not met, you are likely to get – ‘This username is not available’ error.

Got it!

Now, once you have met the requirements, try to create a username for your page to check if it helps you in resolving the error encountered.

How to Create a Facebook Page Username?

To set/create a username—

  • Click on Info’ in the left menu of your Facebook page.
  • Then, click on ‘Create Username for Page’ option which is at the top of the menu.
  • Now, enter a username for your page and if it is available, simply click on ‘Create Username.’

However, even after meeting the requirements, if you still get “This Facebook page is not available to have a username” error; it can be resolved by assigning an alternate account as admin and making the necessary changes.

Solution: Use an Alternate Facebook account to Fix ‘This Facebook Page Isn’t Eligible to have a Username’ Error!

Most of the Facebook users have stated that adding another Admin to their Facebook page allows them to create a custom URL username successfully. So, if this solution works for them, hopefully it will work for you too.

Let’s see—

  • Step 1: Open the web browser of your choice and visit the Facebook webpage using it.
  • Step 2: Then, enter the login credentials to log in with your main Facebook account.
  • Step 3: Once you’re logged in, go to ‘Settings’ to open the ‘Page Roles’ option.
Go to the ‘Settings’ to open ‘Page Roles’ option
  • Step 4: Next, in the text box under ‘Assign a new Page role’ type the ‘Name or Email address’ of a person (from your friend list who doesn’t manage any other FB pages) to add as an administrator for your page and then, select that person’s ‘Profile’ from the list that appears.
  • Step 5: After that, click on the ‘Editor’ option, change it to ‘Administrator’ and click on the ‘Add’ button.
ALT+TAG: Enter a ‘Person Name or Email Address’ under ‘Assign a new Page role’ text box, click on the ‘Editor’ option to change it to ‘Admin’ and then, click on ‘Add’ button.
  • Step 6: Now, you will see a small pop-up window in which you have to re-enter your password and click on ‘Submit’ button. By doing this, the person you have selected will receive a notification that they have been made an administrator of your Page.
Inside the Pop-up box, you need to re-enter your ‘Password’ and click on ‘Submit’ button to continue.
  • Step 7: Following this, you can ask the assigned admin to log in to their account and change the username

Alternatively, if you know the assigned administrator’s login credentials then, ‘log in’ to their account and do it yourself by following these steps—

  • Log in to the admin account and once you’re logged in, click on the arrow icon in the top-right corner to select the ‘Manage Pages’ option.
  • From it, select the ‘Page’ you want to set the username for.
  • After selecting the page, click on ‘About’ and then, select ‘Create Page @Username.’
  • Now, enter the ‘Username’ that you want to set and check if it is available as each page can only have one unique username so that other Facebook users can find and tag you using it.
  • Upon checking the availability, click on ‘Create a username’ and congratulations! Your username for your Facebook page has been created and is ready to use.
Click on ‘Create a username’ to create a username for your Facebook Page.

[Note: Once the username is set, don’t forget to remove your friend as the admin of your Facebook Page.]

Bottom Line

That’s all! Hopefully, now you have an idea of how minor this problem is and how easily using the solution we have mentioned in this post, you can get rid of “This Page isn’t eligible to have a username” error.

Facebook is ruling the realm of social media with 2.6 billion monthly active users. But the harsh reality is that Facebook has become the epicenter of virtual stalking; some do this for fun, while others have cruel intentions. this has lead to many people deactivating Facebook and leaving the platform to stay away from virtual stalkers.

Therefore, there has been a huge debate on the topic of whether you can you see who views your Facebook or whether it is practically impossible.

If you have questions in your mind like, “Can I know who viewed my Facebook profile recently?“ Is it even possible? Is there any official way for doing this?

You are in the right place. Seize this opportunity to know whether you can legally check viewers of the Facebook profile, or if there is any trick for that, by reading this blog till the end.

Want to See Who Viewed My Facebook Profile? Try These Methods

Facebook has always been the target of its users for sharing their data with third-party in return for monetary benefits, and thus Facebook is trying its best to annul these allegations by taking strict action on privacy breaches.

In all this chaos, Facebook also faced a lot of backlash for providing a rumored feature to check who visited the Facebook profile. Although Facebook did not introduce such a feature, third-party applications were luring users with the promise of seeing who had viewed their Facebook profile.

Well, we understand the curiosity of users to get an idea of the people who visit their profile, so we have created a guide with a few feasible methods that might help you with this. So, before we talk more, let’s just get straight into the methods.

Method 1: Check out who viewed your Facebook profile using Facebook on Andriod/iOS:

You can easily find out who viewed your Facebook profile by just following some simple steps on android/iOS:

  1. Log in to your Facebook Account
    Facebook Login Page
  1. Click on the Drop Menu:
    Facebook Drop Menu
  1. Go to Privacy Shortcuts
    Facebook Privacy Shortcuts
  1. Tap on Who Viewed My Profile
    Who Viewed My Profile

By following the above steps, you can see who views your Facebook profile. Unfortunately, to date, this is the only authentic way for Android and iOS users. There are also some Facebook spy apps for iPhone users on the internet that can help you spy on someone’s FB profile secretly.

Method 2: See Who Viewed Your Facebook Profile from Page Source (On Desktop)

People often consider this method lengthy and overly strenuous, but it has proven its worth by providing several positive results. To use this method:

  • Sign in to your Facebook account and open your Facebook timeline page.
  • Wait until the page loads, and do not interrupt in between loadings.
  • When the page is loaded carefully, you need to right-click anywhere on the page and choose View Page Source. Alternatively, you can simply press and hold the keys Ctrl+U.
  • Next, a new window will open that will include all the codes that you might not understand, but this page has all the information you need. So, press “Ctrl+F” to open the search box and enter this BUDDY_ID
    Facebook Profile Page Source Code
  • The profile IDs for people who visited your profile would open on your screen. The profile ID is basically a 15 digit code. Go to Facebook and paste the ID there (e.g., facebook.com/100010542976550).

The first ID that will appear is the person who viewed your profile or does this most of the time.

How to See Who Views Your Facebook By Mobile Applications

Fortunately, there are some mobile applications named who viewed my Facebook profile recently. However, some of these apps are definitely not safe to use.

Some apps may exist solely to collect people’s personal information for the purpose of selling it to marketing companies or even attempting to steal their identity. We recommend reading the reviews on these apps before downloading them.

We have discovered a few apps that appear to have pretty good reviews, indicating that they are reliable and serve their intended purpose.

Here are a few we believe you should investigate:

  1. Who Viewed My Facebook Profile (Android)
Who Viewed My Facebook Profile Application Logo

You can view a variety of information about your Facebook profile, such as who has viewed it, who has liked your posts the most, and so on. The app will not request personal information from you and may not send your data to another server or company.

  1. Who Cares Profile for Facebook (iOS)
    Profile for Facebook Application Logo

You can see who is the most interested in your profile. If you are interested in seeing more people on the list, you can pay a fee of $2.79 to see up to 35 profile visitors, $3.99 to see 50 visitors, or $5.49 to see a massive list of the top 100 visitors.

If you are not satisfied with the apps that we mentioned above, you can try out some more spy apps and see how effective they are.

What Can You Check in Your Facebook Profile?

Facebook allows you to check a variety of other things associated with your account. So, let’s see what they are:

Can You See Who Views Your Facebook Profile Recently?

Answering this question is a cumbersome task as there is no definitive answer available. If you have thoroughly read the posts in the Facebook Help Center, it says:

Note: No, Facebook doesn’t let people track who views their profile. Third-party apps also can’t provide this functionality. If you come across an app that claims to offer this ability, please report the app.

People often complain that Facebook doesn’t let them see who has viewed their profile. The short answer is that IT DOES NOT MATTER

Facebook Hiring Meme

Facebook hasn’t introduced this feature to maintain the privacy of its users; otherwise, Facebook must have introduced something like what you get with the LinkedIn Premium subscription.

So, straightforwardly, “NO!” Is the simple answer to the repetitively asked query, “Can I See Who Viewed My Facebook Profile?

Facebook knows stalking is the most popular activity on its platform, even a normal person stalks so many profiles every day, but no one wants to face the embarrassment that will come to them when the person they are stalking gets to know about it.

Therefore, there is no such feature available for regular users to know who is visiting their Facebook profile. Undoubtedly, the masses use Facebook to dig into the lives of others, and Facebook feeds on this curiosity.

Therefore, giving its users the ability to know who viewed their Facebook profile would directly affect the economic conditions of Facebook.

Nevertheless, it is not like Facebook doesn’t let you know anything. You can track most of the activities that take place around your Facebook profile.

Conclusion

In a nutshell, Facebook does not have an inbuilt feature that can be used to check who has viewed your Facebook profile, and using an unconventional method to find out the same would put your account at risk. So, avoid using any fake or fraudulent third-party application or extension that claims to reveal the names of people who viewed your Facebook profile.
